Additional description from the above auction:
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php
This fine and resplendent Jaguar we offer here is one such example, built 8th June and dispatched 20th July 1966 to Rossleigh Ltd. in Newcastle, this genuine right hand drive 2+2 E type remains a matching number car, finished in British Racing Green with a tan leather interior it is fitted with a manual gearbox and features a Webasto sunroof. The subject of a comprehensive restoration which was completed in 1997 this car had something approaching £40,000 spent during this time and comes complete with a large file containing details of the restoration and receipts for this work. Many extra features were added to enhance the specification of the car and include a stainless steel ‰÷competition style‰ª exhaust, series 3 style chrome wire wheels and the fitment of an air conditioning system. Having been the beneficiary of such an exorbitant restoration the car still remains in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically as the vendor has always kept the car under cover and it has continued to receive periodic maintenance.
Certainly the most desirable of all the 2+2 models this E type represents a remarkable opportunity to acquire a very fine example at a fraction of the rebuild cost, as indicated by the estimate here. A highly useable fast touring car with the added benefit of some great refinements it comes with an MoT until November 2004 and the afore mentioned history file, a handsome and ready to go example of Jaguars most iconic E Type sports car.

I have recently purchased this car. Until late last year, I believe it was owned by Richard Buck, who lived at Jacksonville, Florida. He sold it to a dealer, Steve's British Connection, I think in Illinois, who then sold it to Robert Johnson of Chapel End cars in England. I bought the car from Robert. It is now in Blairgowrie, Victoria, Australia. I would love to be able to contact any previous owners and in particular try to aquire the History File as mentioned in the Coy's Auction file. I would also like to find out details of the air conditoning system as most of the labels are indestinct. Cheers, Roger

Hi Roger, I have a 2+2 that was delivered to Rossleigh only 2 months after yours. Light Blue, manual. I have been researching the history of my car during lockdown and got as far back as 1976. I have spoken to all three registered owners from 1976 until I bought it in 1997.
I have been trying to find info on Rossleigh but without any success. local newspaper archives turned up one tiny advert for a few second hand cars and wanting an auto electrician. No new cars at all
If you find any adverts for Rossleigh around this time would you please let me know as I would like to know the first owner. I have tried advertising in the local papers but no success.
All the best
Steve
