This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 coupe is said to have remained with the same owner from 1996 through 2020, when it underwent a partial repaint in blue as part of a refurbishment project initiated by a shop in Texas. The car retains a yellow-finished clamshell hood along with wraparound chrome bumpers and 15″ wire wheels. Inside, the partially dismantled cabin houses two seat frames covered in torn upholstery along with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, and a Clarion AM/FM cassette player. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. The car is described as a running project that requires bodywork, interior refurbishment, and mechanical service of the clutch and brake hydraulics. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2020, this XKE 1.5 coupe project is now offered at no reserve with a collection of parts and a clean Texas title.
Portions of the body were repainted blue in 2020, though the louvered clamshell hood wears yellow paintwork and requires repair. The headlamps and various trim pieces have been removed along with the windshield and rear hatch glass. The car retains a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin tires. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors, though the seller notes that the system requires service prior to road use.
The cabin retains two seat frames that are partially covered in torn black upholstery. Color-coordinated trim extends the the dash, center console and doors, while the headliner has been removed. A Clarion AM/FM cassette player is installed along with components for a cabin heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline as well as a centrally mounted analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new runs.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller notes that the clutch hydraulics require service.
A collection of spare and removed parts is included in the sale.
The Texas title is marked as a certified copy.
