Ebay item 2/27/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $5,100.00 (Reserve not met), 6 bids, 5 days left in auction. Buy it now price $27,900.

Sellers description:
This is a rust free series 1.5 XKE coupe restored in its original Primrose yellow color with black hides. Odometer reads 53K miles, believed to be accurate. This e-type has the rare factory AC, in working order, which is especially desirable on a coupe. If you have ever driven an e-type coupe during the summer you know what I mean! Please note that this coupe is the attractive 2 person body style and NOT the bulky 2+2.

Engine was rebuilt 10K miles ago and runs great. The clutch, transmission seals and the brake calipers were done 2K miles ago. The engine leaks no oil, rather rare on a Jaguar! Car has spent most of its life in California and Georgia, which explains why the body is rust free. I have not seen any signs of previous body accidents or repairs. Chrome bumpers and trim are in show condition. Wire wheels, including the spare, are in excellent condition. Tires are new. Glass is very good.

Recent service includes:
- Rebuilt front end
- New rear shocks (front are good and have lifetime warranty)
- New engine mounts
- New brake flex hoses
- New sway bar bushings
- New engine mounts
- New engine stabilizer
- New rack mounts
- New voltage regulator
- New 4 upper arm bushings
- New 4 lower arm bushings
- New coil
- New upper and lower ball joints
- New headlight switch
- New tires, including the spare

Interior is very good with very little wear showing. All accessories and gauges are in working order, except the clock which probably stopped working in 1969 :-)

The car was painted in 1989 and the paint is still very good; not a show quality paint job but very presentable for a driver. Body gaps are nice and even all around, bonnet fits well; which is very important on an e-type. Includes original owner's manual (not a reprint), jack in bag, knock off hammer and special knock off tool, plus ownership records and receipts. Car is ready to be enjoyed.

Car number: 1E35763

Current bid $25,100 reserve not met 10 bids, 6 days left in auction. Car now located in Eugene, Oregon. Complete VIN on this car is J681E35763.

Sellers description:
Matching number Series 1 ½ E-Type Jaguar two-place coupe. It has always been well cared for and preserved. While the early documents have gone missing, this cars appearance and performance shows like a very low miles car. The prior owner believes it is a low mile car and the remaining records back to 1985 indicate that this is most likely a original low miles vehicle. Series 1 ½ cars are very rare as they were produced in only part of 1968 as the transition from the pure Series 1 body shape to the safety mandated Series 2 cars. This E-type has the elegant bumpers and lights of the series 1 combined with the better cooling and electrical systems of the series 2. These features make it truly the best of both worlds. A true two-place coupe fitted with 4-speed and factory air conditioning system makes this E even rarer. The larger 4.2-liter engine proves advantageous to the earlier 3.8. A stunning E-type 2 place coupe that pleases in both how it looks and drives.

Paint & Body
This is a rust free car that retains all its original body panels. The original yellow paint was faded beyond use, so we removed all the exterior bits and then painted it in modern two-stage urethane to match the original primrose yellow color. The color is a beautiful creamy yellow that fits the curves of the E-type perfectly. All glass is in good condition. A stunningly attractive car with deep gloss and luster of professionally applied paint.

Interior
The interior of the E-type is original and in very nice well-preserved condition, with a patina of care that shows very nicely. There are no cuts, tears, or damage to the leather. The carpets are in very good condition and look good and well fitted. The dash is in very nice condition, with only slight imperfections to the dash top. Headliner is good and all trim items are in good serviceable condition.

The Bottom Side
The underside of this Jag is in wonderful condition as can be evidenced in the photos. Chassis and sub frames are rust and damage free. Nicely sorted, well preserved, and obviously maintained. The brakes system has received and new booster and master cylinders within the last few thousand miles and function nicely. The front suspension was rebuilt with new bushes and ball joints and is very solid. Car has a new set of Dayton chrome wire wheels fitted with new tires, so is ready to drive.

Engine & Transmission
This is a matching number car and the 4.2 liter motor provides plenty of torque and horsepower. Starts easily, runs smooth and quietly from cold. Oil pressure is excellent even when warmed up with freeway driving. Cooling system functions as it should and keeps the engine cool. The clutch engages smoothly and transmission feels good and shifts well. The car runs and drives smoothly with no abnormal engine noise. This E-Type is a very solid and nicely cohesive driving car that is comfortable enough to use as a daily driver.

Summation
A brilliant E-type that is a real pleasure to look at, and certainly a joy to drive. Good early E-types that are rust and damage free are hard to come by and true collectables. The A/C system could be brought up to current specs and would make this car very useable in southern climates. The lovely silhouette of the two seat coupes is a classic and can rival even the convertible models for purity and beauty. This is a very rare car with all the options and unique styling. With 60’s Aston Martin and Maserati prices rising into the outer limits, this is an affordable easily maintained classic that will provide years of driving pleasure.

Car to be at auction 6/09, Greenwich, Connecticut.

Auction description:
1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1½ Coupe
Chassis no. 1E 35763
This wonderful example of the Series 1 ½ coupe is an incredibly original car showing just 60,000 miles from new. It has the ultra rare and desirable factory option of air conditioning which blows ice cold. The engine was replaced in 1968, as records show, with a correct and proper series engine for the model, and it runs without fault. While repainted once in its life in the original Primrose Yellow, the body is original and completely rust free, the interior leather, carpets and door panels are all original and in superb condition.

This great original car has been extensively road tested, over many, many miles over the last few months and we can attest that it is a superb running car ready now for spirited summer touring.

Estimate: $35,000 - 45,000
