Ebay item 3/24/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-COUPE-/260757786588
Opening bid $14,500, no reserve, no bids yet 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Here we have an extremely original, mostly 2 owner 1968 XKE coupe. It probably has an authentic 48,627 miles, and matching numbers. I have owned and driven E-Types since 1964 and am well aware of the speedometer and their right angle drives failure rate. This car has been lightly used.

The driver door panel needs replacing and a good pair are in the parts collection. Also, from Terry's Jaguar is the gasket set for around the doors, bumpers etc. purchased last year

The engine runs smoothly and there are no tappet barrel noises, just a faint tinkle when the motor is hot from the lower timing chain. Oil pressure is good.

The carbs need attention, as the old gas still smells and the engine does not take gas well.
As it idles for a long time, the cooling fans turn on and off and the temperature is steady.
The tire on the right front was the spare and it is an original Dunlop SP. very old.

There isn't any rust in the floor, battery box area, the door bottoms, or the bonnet.
Everything mechanically works and the clutch engages smoothly.
The paint has its flaws, but looks great from five feet.
The front wind shield gasket could use replacement.

This car is easily within the home enthusiasts abilities to become a daily driver.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
