If you’re a fan of British classics, this 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 Coupe is a rare gem. Matching numbers car. It’s got only 35,000 original miles and has been stored away for 35 years, preserving its original character while benefiting from a few key updates.

Owned by an Expert

This car is currently part of John Peters’ personal collection. John owns Sports and Classics, a well-known British car parts shop, this Jaguar has been kept as original as possible. One more bonus: we’ve got the original bill of sale from when this car was purchased from Eastman Greenwich Dealership Inc. in Greenwich, CT.

John spotted the car in the most unexpected place, although that is rather normal for John as he is always on the lookout for British cars. One spring day while stopping at a nursery while picking up rose bushes for his family. He made a deal that day. Now, it’s ready for someone else to take it home and make it part of their own story.

Interior and Features

Inside, you’ll find the original Connolly black leather seats and wool carpets, along with new wool floor mats. There’s no radio, just the pure sound of the engine as you cruise. It’s simple, classic, and true to its time.

What’s Been Updated

Brakes: It’s got a new Lockheed brake master cylinder and servo, rebuilt Dunlop calipers, and new rubber brake lines.

Exhaust: The car features a new complete mild steel exhaust system from front to back, staying true to its original design while ensuring smooth functionality. The alternator was even rebuilt to keep the focus on the original.

Ready for the Road

There is some surface rust and a few dents, but that just adds to its charm. With its low mileage and original features, this Jaguar is perfect for someone looking for a classic they can actually drive or as a great investment. Whether for weekend drives or car shows, this car will turn heads.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
