This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe is a running project that is said to have spent the last 25 years in storage. The car is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and the body is finished in green over tan vinyl upholstery. Features include triple SU carburetors, a louvered hood, four-wheel disc brakes, and knock-off wire wheels. This XKE project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, the removed cylinder head, spare parts, and a clean West Virginia title.

The bodywork was originally finished in Opalescent Dark Green, and the car has been fitted with a replacement hood. The paintwork is faded, cracked, and peeling. The brightwork is pitted, and multiple dents are present along with areas of corrosion, rust perforation, and body filler. A pair of glass headlight covers is included in the sale, along with various trim pieces.

Silver-finished knock-off wire wheels are mounted with older tires. A matching spare is housed in the rear storage area. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes that feature inboard-mounted rears. The braking system will need service before driving.

The cabin has been partially stripped and houses seats trimmed in tan vinyl with color-coordinated trim pieces. A Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is installed in the dash. The seats, trim, and headliner are torn, the carpets and door panels are missing, and rust holes are present in the floors.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 84k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2L inline-six has been fitted with a replacement cylinder head and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Triple SU carburetors are installed. The removed cylinder head is included in the sale. According to the seller, the engine runs, though the car is not drivable. The engine block stamping reads 7E10290-9.

Corrosion and rust perforation are visible on the underside.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers.

The car number 1E33651 is stamped on the frame and the under-hood identification plate. The VIN on the West Virginia title adds a “J67” prefix before the car number.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
