Above auction:

rrent bid $3,500.00 (Reserve not met), 20 bids, 2 days left in auction.
Auction description:
You are looking at a '67 XKE coupe that has it's original matching number engine (including head) and trans. The good news is the engine runs great and the trans works great. The bad news, is at some point, somebody decided to put a GM? solid axel rearend in and not very well either.
This car has typical rust problems. Will need floors and outer sills - inner sills could probably be patched. Doors need skins. Although with a jack under the rearend and raised off the ground, you can raise the front with one jack on either side and the doors and bonnet will still open and close properly. The front frame tubes are original to the car (see picture for serial #) and are not bent, cracked or rusted off. I removed the servo & took a picture of the tube where it meets the bulkhead. The end of the tube appears to be intact. The other side is much better.
Included with the car is a rearend assy. (possibly the original), it had been taken apart (not the differential). I put it back together loosely. Some washers and nuts are not present. It turns freely and seems fine. No brakes are with it however. The rearend, currently in the car, could be removed and brackets removed by cutting away the welds with a pneumatic cut off tool. The original mounting holes and frame area are present.
The interior is missing parts. The dash is present and the gauges work.
The bonnet has rust holes in the lower apron. The center section has bondo in it but it is really straight on top.
As for the engine, it starts instantly and rev's freely. Idle's great. No clouds of smoke and no oil or coolant leaks. Has good oil pressure when warm (see picture). No discernable mechanical noise, even the chains aren't slapping the case. (Although it's a little hard to hear because there is no real exhaust system). I got the brakes working and drove the car up and down the road at max 30 mph. Very scary! The trans shifts smoothly and clutch works fine. The car can be driven onto a shippers truck or trailer.
This car needs lots of work for a restoration. OR it would be a great donor car for one of the E's recently sold on E-bay that have been cut up and retrofitted with Chevy or Ford power. OR you could weld in homemade panels and put in a fuel cell and roll bar and vintage race on the cheap.
I have set the reserve lower than the sum of the good parts. I don't want to take the time to part it. It comes with a bill of sale. No title. (Title can easily be obtained from title services). If the buyer wants to ship the car I live near Indiana 2 & Interstate 65. You should be able to get a firm quote from that location.
If you don't see it in the pictures - it isn't there (gas tank - not pictured- is included). I will take the original rear end apart and load it inside the car with the gas tank and 2 wire wheels for shipping.
