Description:
An unforgettable shape, the Jaguar E-Type – especially Series I models like this – are the definition of a 'classic car' to most and for good reason! Early Series I E-Types possess more than good looks; the 4.2 straight-six is sonorous and powerful, producing 265 hp at 5400 rpm. Jaguars of the era are well known for high speed travel and the E-Type is no different, topping out at 150 miles per hour with handling tuned to match its high speed nature.
According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate this E-Type 'Fixed Head Coupe', was dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 6 October 1965 finished in Opalescent Silver Grey over a Dark Blue Connolly leather interior. While the interior has been subsequently changed to Red leather, the exterior shade remains Opalescent Silver Grey, with its current color combination working phenomenally well together. The Heritage Certificate additionally confirms that chassis number 1E31813 retains its original numbers-matching engine block and head. History files records available for review indicate nearly $90,000 in cosmetic body restoration work with marque experts Vantage Motors Inc. in 2008 with a separate line item for $9,870 to triple chrome plate 55 pieces of exterior trim! According to the invoice the body was completely stripped with plastic media and includes the purchase of many new panels including floors and outer sills among many other items. All of the aforementioned restoration work has been conducted under the eye of the consignor with long term, cherished ownership of this Fixed Head Coupe beginning in 1996. Since its cosmetic restoration it continued to receive service and general maintenance work at Vantage Motors in Stamford until 2013 where Northumberland Engineering of Southampton, New York and the consignor's in-house mechanic took over maintenance duties. While at Northumberland in 2013 digital copies of the history file show that an extensive mechanical review and servicing with an invoice dated 13 January 2014 totaling just under $36,000. With over $125,000 spent by the consignor to preserve this fantastic Jaguar, it should not come as a shock for us to say that this is a fine example of the breed.
