Ebay item 5/17/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-Jaguar-XKE-2-seater-Coupe-/121111725583
Current bid $2,550 reserve not met, 3 bids 9 days left in auction, buy it now price $28,500. 152k miles.
Sellers description:
1965 JAGUAR XKE 2 SEATER COUPE
Matching numbers, Very Solid, Great Running and Driving Car. This car has an excellent, very solid body. The valence under the hole in the nose of the bonnet is like new without any dents. The bonnet hinge mounting points are perfect. The floors are very solid as is the trunk floor. Presentable paint needing bonnet painted and headliner replaced. Previous owner had a late 67 (without glass headlight covers) and wanted an early bonnet for it, so he took this 65 bonnet and fitted it to the late 67. When I went to buy the 65 I insisted on getting the original bonnnet. They had shortened it on the driver side fender about 1/2 inch when fitting it to the late 67. So, when they put it back on the 65 they added on about 1/2" of metal on the driver side fender. This will need smoothing out and the bonnet painted. Also, the headlights, sugar scoops, and headlight buckets are not present. I was going to have this done and it was going to cost me $2500. I decided the new owner might want to paint the car another color and so I am deducting the $2500 from my original buy it now price of $31,000 with the bonnet painted. The roof of the car has a number of fine cracks in the paint. Standing back a few feet, the paint looks quite respectable. The car runs strong and has excellent acceleration. The engine has 50 lbs. of oil pressure when hot and going down the road at 50 mph. This is outstanding oil pressure for an xke. I don't have documentation, but this tells me the engine must have been rebuilt at one time to have this great oil pressure. The car is a very good driver, needing the bonnet repainted, and the headliner replaced.

This car is now back in the Uk _ I picked it up from Chatham docks yesterday - it seems pretty solid but has yet to go on a ramp to check underneath - The radiator is probably from a series 2 car as someone has attached 2 fans to it but given the heat from the engine might be useful ( I can always change it). Both the Shippers and Customs were very helpful. I will update the engine number etc later on ans of course the photographs.

Well work has now started - the car will be striped out and the body will be taken away in the next couple of weeks to be shot blasted so we will see if any new panels are needed. It seems that there may have been a small shunt at sometime as this why the bonnet doesn't fit properly - however from the A frame that hold the engine to the rear the car is straight... I will add a couple of photographs from last Friday later on and add more whe the car is back from being worked on...
