Auction description:
Lot No: 207
1968 Jaguar E-Type 'Series 1½' 4.2-Litre Roadster
Registration no. ONR 927F
Chassis no. 1E2100
Engine no. 7E17547-8

Sold for £58,700 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Manufactured in May 1968 during this transitional period, this desirable right-hand drive 'Series 1½' Roadster was supplied new via Mann Egerton and delivered finished Primrose Yellow with black interior. The accompanying JDHT certificate confirms that it retains matching chassis/engine numbers. We are advised by the private vendor that the car periodically has undergone extensive restoration at the hands of various specialists over the course of the past 25 years at a total cost of almost £27,000 (bills on file). Finished in red with black leather interior trim, the car is described as in generally 'excellent/A1' condition and offered with the aforementioned restoration invoices, JDHT certificate, recently expired MoT (February 2011) and Swansea V5 registration document.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
