Car to be at Coy's auction 2/07
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php
Auction description:
London, England
Tuesday 27th February 2007
Lot 252
1965 Jaguar E-Type Roadster 4.2 Series I
Registration no: JWB 878C
Chassis no: 1E20226
Estimate: £37,000-42,000
The striking example we are proud to offer was supplied new by Jaguar dealers Henly's of Piccadilly in 1965. Most attractively finished in opalescent silver grey with a contrasting dark blue leather interior and a dark blue mohair hood, it also benefits from a rare body-coloured hardtop. In 1990 E20226 has undergone a comprehensive restoration. The vendor then commissioned a partial restoration by respected Jaguar specialists XK Engineering in 2004, which included a complete high quality repaint of the body and the hardtop. At the same time the interior has been retrimmed in dark blue leather with matching dark blue carpets and a new dark blue mohair hood, cover and bag have been fitted. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the owner describes this E-Type as being in excellent condition in every respect. Additionally this British automotive icon has benefited from some subtle modifications to make driving in modern traffic conditions slightly less troublesome without spoiling the driving pleasure one can expect from a well sorted E-Type: to increase the stopping power, uprated Coopercraft front disc brakes have been installed, the ignition was changed to an electronic system and Halogen headlamps provide better vision in the dark. The modern stereo/radio/cd player is cleverly hidden so that it does not interfere with the otherwise unspoilt 1960s aesthetics.
Since in the vendor's ownership the car has always been serviced and maintained by reputable Jaguar specialists; a valuation by the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club indicated a value of this E-Type at £ 48,000, even before the interior retrim.
This must be one of the nicest E-Type Roadsters with the desirable 4.2 litre engine and should definitely not be confused with other less well cared for examples. Ready to be enjoyed in the forthcoming Spring and Summer months we have all been waiting for!

This Car Number is for a fixed head coupe. When did this car have its roof chopped off to create a roadster or which roadster is this with a coupe's Car Number?

The original comment is correct this car would have been a RHD FHC when it left the factory.
