This lovely car, finished in white with red leather, drives extremely well and is ready to use and enjoy immediately. With an extensive history file, a sound body, good paint and a really fresh interior this really is one of the best cars we have seen for the price. With a current MOT and tax, this car drove beautifully on the way to our showroom and will be receive one of our extensive classic car inspections and a full service prior to delivery.
Manufactured 12/1/65 and delivered on 25/1/65 to well known Jaguar dealer Rossleigh of Edinburgh, this car soon became one of the many shipped to the United States, arriving there in the late 1970's. The available US Certificates of Title show that it was registered in Arizona on 29/11/78, showing only 16000 miles on the clock. It was later registered in New Mexico in 1985 and Nevada in 1987 before being shipped to the UK from Los Angeles in December 1988.
The new owner, a Mr Grice from Malton in North Yorkshire will no doubt have been delighted with his purchase - the dry environment of America's desert states are extremely kind to cars and their bodywork - and he set about freshening up the car, spending around £6,000 on parts. Receipts and invoices show that this was spent on paint, trim and engine work including a timing chain. The work appears to have been finished by 2004 and the car wase ventually sold.
In 2004 the then owner commissioned PurrJag in Norfolk to restore the vehicle. Extensive work was carried out including:
New over-riders and bumpers
Rebuilt carburettors
New brake pads
Fabricate mudguard panels
Front & rear suspension replaced
New Ball joints and track rod ends
New front and rear brakes
4 x Michelin XVS-P tyres
New pillar chromes, lights and near side window regulator
New exhausts
New manifolds
New wheels x4
New Thermostat
New Brake master cylinder
New Kenlowe fan
Bonnet fitted
Carpets and seats retrimmed
New Alternator
New door cards
Invoices and receipts totalling just under £14,000 are available although the previous owner believes that nearly £40,000 was spent on the restoration.
The car has been used very little over the past decade, retaining it's fine condition and the paperwork would seem to support the mileage as genuine.
