Car sold at auction 3/14/05
www.shannons.com.au/shannons/shannons.nsf/pages/565722BEACA95547CA256FB1004BE35F

Auction description:
This stunning example of the legendary Jaguar E-Type roadster has undergone a complete restoration to concours condition at a cost reputed to exceed $200,000. The bare metal rebuild saw all the original sheet metal retained. The sensational metallic blue paintwork was applied by Stylerod, while Gary Blackman retrimmed the interior in red Connolly hides and the soft top in Porsche cloth. The engine and transmission were also rebuilt, with all mechanical work and final assembly carried out by Geoff Leake, while a number of subtle upgrades and modifications were made to enhance the performance, safety and reliability aspects of the car. These included an immobiliser and car alarm, Becker Mexico radio/CD player, uprated front disc brakes, a modified cylinder head with Series 3 valves, electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust, 16-inch wire wheels and sway bars. The Jaguar has also been modified to run on premium unleaded petrol. There are few E-Types in Australia as good as the vehicle on offer here, which is to be sold registered in Victoria with a Victorian roadworthy certificate.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
