Ebay item 5/21/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $1,525.00 (Reserve not met), 7 bids, 5 days left in auction. Buy it now price $27,500, 60k miles.

Sellers description:
This is an incredible car for the collector. This car was purchased from the second owner in 2000. The second owner purchased the car from the original owner in 1969. It was never titled for the road and has been garage kept since 2000. The car was a project that will not be able to be finished due to a planned move. All numbers match and this car runs. The transmission is good. The motor is good and strong. It has only been driven up and down the road every now and then to keep it running. This car could be driven off if you prefer. It is in great condition. The paint job is not the original but is gorgeous. What other color would you want a convertible? Major chrome parts have been rechromed. Detailing in the engine compartment still needs to be done. It has 4 new tires. The drivers side seat has 2 small tears on it, but the passenger side is good. For some reason the light reflected wierd on the seats in the pictures and do not do it justice. The seats are in much better condition than they appear in the pictures. The air conditioner is installed but has never been turned on. It may need some replacements of hose and such. The 8 track is installed, but needs to be hooked up. This car is a must see and it has a low reserve also.

Car returns to ebay 10/14/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1968-Jaguar-XKE-Convertible-Series-1-5_W0Q ...
Opening bid $20,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $38,000, car is now located in Salinas, California.

Current sellers description:
This is a 1968 E-type Jaguar covertible with matching numbers and in good condition. It looks great with its red body and black top and interior. The 1968 E-type is the transition model from the series 1 to the series 2, and in many enthusiasts minds you get the best of the series 1 combined with the best of the series 2. This Jaguar (commonly known as the series 1.5) has the tail lights, side lights and the bumpers of the series 1, which blend in with body work beautifully, and the headlights of the series 2 which are so superior for night time driving. This car also came with the series 2 brakes and all of the safety features in the cabin. The engine is the 4.2 liter with dual Stromberg carburettors, and it runs extremely smooth and strong with tremendous power and torque. The carburettors were recently stripped down and found to be in excellent condition with no discernable wear, they were rebuilt using all new and correct gaskets etc. All cooling and heater hoses have been replaced with the correct Jaguar hoses and the radiator was removed and reconditioned. All new ignition wires and plugs have been fitted and the car is equiped with a Crane solid state electronic ignition, the best and most reliable there is. All filters have been replaced and all fluids drained and replaced. The transmission is in very good condition with all synchro rings working as they should. The interior and convertible top are in good to very good condition and all of the chrome is in very good condition with no signs of rust or pitting. All of the instruments, switches and lights are in good working order. This E-type Jaguar looks and drives great and is a real head turner.

Previous auction ended at $24,200 (Reserve met) after 9 bids.

Q: About the etype? Has it ever been hit? Any evidence of previous collision repair or bondo? Any rust or indications of rust either on the outside or underneath? What was the original color and when was this new color applied? Any overheating probelms? Lots of questions, but the answers are important and are appreciated. Mike

A: I am not aware and have no evidence of any previous collisions. There are no obvious indications of any rust on the car. Judging by the frame rails it looks like it was originally painted maroon(dark red). I have no idea when the new color was applied. The car does not overheat and runs beautifully.

Q: A fine example, when was the clutch last replaced, thank's michael.

A: Michael: I don't know when the clutch was last replaced, but it it feels fine with no grabbing or slipping just a smooth take up of power.
