This car should not be classified as a Series 1, but as a Series 1.5 per the JCNA '68 Judges' Guide, page 2, based on the OTS, LHD Build records. The Series 1 ended at 1E15888. Your xkedata.com website has also confirmed the same information in the "About the XKE" section under "Models", showing the differences between the 4.2 Series 1 and the Series 1.5. This car is a Series 1 1/2.

Saw this E-Type on the 22/06/14 at the Woodvale Rally (Woodvale Transport Festival) in Southport, as well as a few other E-Types which haven't made it onto the xkedata database as of yet. It certainly looked like a series 1 as it clearly had covered headlamps, but unusual as it was a LHD and had US AMCO bars on the front and rear. Perhaps a recent import maybe?. Colour was a Carmen red from what I could tell.

EDIT: CBW 84 attended Ormskirk Motorfest 2014. Believed to be owned by Chris Walker since 1987, car returned to UK in 1986, originally from New York and fully restored in 2012. Original colour pale blue with white seats. Stated as being a 1968 series 1.5.

just seen the above comments re my car
it is a series 1.5 and has the wrong headlights which is how I bought the car in 1987
when I rebuilt the car I kept the covered headlights as I think they look better and the car is nowhere near original as it is signal red with tan interior despite leaving the factory as light blue with white interior
it also now has triple carbs rather than the twin strombergs and all the emission control rubbish it left the factory with
it has done about 120000 miles and goes every year round south of france for its holidays which is why I have kept the left hand drive

turns out the original interior was black according to the heritage certificate
when I bought the car the seats were white or cream and had been painted black which I only realised months later

whilst removing carburettors for restoration found the engine identification number was matching the original despite having thought for the last 30 years that it wasn't original
the registration document from Swansea says engine unknown
I now know it is the original
