1E16769 was bought for me by my contact person in Los Angeles from (Jo) Huffacker Engineering, the company who race-prepared the famous E type from the also famous Merle Brennan in the sixties. 1E16769 had undergone several race-car modifications, mainly to the front bulkhead/firewall. Any actual race history of the car is unknown to me. The car was sold by them with the engine newly overhauld and the hard-top.

Hi Peter,
you posted in 2004 some facts about your E-Type. The interesting thing for me was the fact, that your engine number is exact the one which originally was the engine of my E-Type.
As I am interested in the history of my E-Type, and how my engine came to your car, I ask you to contact me.
Kind regards

Additional history. My car, 888960 came with a file of documents from previous owners and one paper mentioned 1E16769. It turns out that a John Saguto from Petaluma CA owner this car as well as mine in the mid 90's. This document mentions a trade to Huffaker racing for some serviced to 888960. "...Mr Huffaker will receive one 1968 Jaguar convertible (vin# 1E16769) for products and services described below." It goes on to mention a complete exhaust repair, some floor work, brake system rebuild, rebuild and tune carbs, body work and paint ($6000 job), and some additional assembly. "Upon completion of the service stated above, Mr Saguto will sign over the 1968 Jaguar convertible (vin# 1E16769) in an 'as-is' state, including all parts. Mr Huffaker is fully aware of the condition of said vehicle and agrees vehicle is known as an extensive rebuilding project with some parts missing, (ie wheels, radiator, seats, interior, windshield, etc)." Other than owning the car, I don't have any more info before or after this document from 1996. All the services were to be completed by Jan 12, 1997 on 888960.
