Posting on JCNA website on 6/23/2008 in the XKE Forums Section. " I am looking at a full restoration project and therefore at a big investment. The car is a 1967 with the following numbers: Car # 1E15997, Body # 4E7909, Engine # 7E14184-9, Gearbox # EJ15729. My question is twofold: how can I find out if the original car indeed had covered headlights and the toggle switches dashboard (it is down to a shell). As far as judging rules, can I then present this car to JCNA events/concours as a true Series One, or do I risk disqualification?"

It is a matter of which church that you wish to belong. As opposed to JCNA, JDHT records say that you possess the last true S1. JDHT states 1 1/2 started with 1E15980. Dont know where or what happened to the two missing Vin #s

As to the question of open headlight however, it would have most certainly had open headlights. Those happened in Jan. '67, believed to be at 1E14532 (some factory records state 1E14535) well before introduction of the S1.5 at 1E15980.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
