Very presentable car with very good panel fit
Early E-Type Series 1 aesthetics
Good usable example
The History and Paperwork
The E-Type spent the first portion of its lifetime abroad, living in a dry US state until the late 1980s
Imported into the UK in 1988
Converted to RHD upon arrival
Fully UK registered with V5 registration document present
Though clearly well maintained the bulk of the Jag’s paperwork has been lost during a short notice house move
Jaguar service handbook and mechanical diagrams present
Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt due to the vehicle’s historic status and age
The Condition
Well presented throughout in desirable colourway
Folding retractable roof
Good quality chrome work with wire wheels
Finished in an iconic bold red hue, the exterior of the Jag is in great overall form. The paintwork is vibrant throughout with a high gloss shine and makes for a highly presentable example of the esteemed model. External trim and chrome work is in great shape on the car and at ground level one finds a marvellous set of wire wheels in great overall standing. There is a light patina with some general signs of age to be seen, however we feel this just makes this E-Type all the more charming and usable without detracting from its sheer presence on the road.
The suave 2 seater cabin of the Jag is one, that much like the rest of the car, presents in great condition. In a deep black hue, the two sculpted seats are of an excellent standard, boasting high quality upholstery, with neat stitching and a distinct lack of wear or damage, the same of course, can be said of the surrounding trim panels and switchgear which all present in smart form. A smart tri spoke wood rim steering wheel completes the look and has a wonderful vintage charm to it.
With this being the roadster variant, we find a quality contrasting black soft top roof panel, which unlatches and and folds, quickly, smoothly and with great ease, completely transforming the aesthetics of the car and providing a great open top experience for the occupants in the cabin.
The Mechanics
Fitted with the straight six XK 4.2 litre Jaguar engine
Great usable example in good overall mechanical form
Converted to RHD
4spd fully synchromesh manual gearbox
This car mixes the enlarged 4.2litre XK engine with the desirable fully synchromesh 4spd manual gearbox. Despite little history being available with the car, it is clear from the photographs that the engine bay has been maintained well and we have no reports of mechanical or running issues.
The vendor advises that a new clutch has been fitted recently.
