Ebay item 3/29/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $8,600 (Reserve met), 14 bids, 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This is a project car for the collector who has an appreciation for one of the most beautiful cars ever built. My father purchased the car in 1969 and was the second owner. I aquired the vehicle after his recent passing. It was driven regularly for many years until is succumbed to floor rust. For the past 20 years it has sat dormant in a barn.
Beyond the faded paint and the rust, the beauty of the once elegant roadster is still there, yearning to be restored. 1967 was a transition year for the XKE from the series 1 to the series 2 model. This series 1 model boasts the DOHC, 4.2 liter, 6-cylinder with 3 "SU" carbs. This is the original engine that was rebuilt in 1979 but has not been started in almost 20 years.
As previously mentioned, rust is extensive throughout the floor, however the trunk portion of the body shell and the bonnet appear to be in good condition except for some rust on the underside of the nose. A Jaguar restoration expert has looked the car over and stated that with some cutting and welding on the underside, the original body is restorable. He was also quite impressed that very few changes have been made to the car in it's 38 years. The interior desperately needs new leather upholstery, however, the steering wheel and dash are all original and intact.
The car is not only complete, it also comes with some extra parts. There are four extra wire wheels, 2 extra valve covers, a head that is apparently from an older 3.8 liter motor, and a box of miscellaneous small parts. I'm hoping my Dad's car finds a good home with someone who has the ability to restore it to it's original glory.
