This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on November 16, 1966, and distributed via Jaguar Cars of New York. The car is said to have remained in New Jersey and New York with two previous owners prior to its acquisition by the selling dealer in 2020. A subsequent refurbishment was performed in Latvia and involved refinishing the car in gray, reupholstering the interior with dark blue leather, and overhauling the 4.2-liter inline-six, suspension, and four-wheel disc brake system. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a dark blue soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a Bell stainless steel dual exhaust system, and a Becker Europa push-button radio. This XKE Roadster is offered by the selling dealer with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment photos, partial service records, car show awards, and a clean New Jersey title.
Finished from the factory in Opalescent Silver Blue, the car is said to have been stripped and media blasted prior to a repaint in Opalescent Silver Grey during the aforementioned refurbishment. The selling dealer states that the windshield was replaced and various trim pieces were re-chromed at that time. Exterior details include a dark blue soft top with a matching boot, recessed headlights with clear covers, split chrome-finished bumpers, a louvered forward-hinged hood, triple windshield wipers, and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via two-eared knock-off spinners and wear 185-width Michelin XVS wide-whitewall tires, while a matching spare wheel is stored in the trunk compartment. Various components of the fully independent suspension are said to have been powder-coated, and replacement shocks have been installed at each corner. The four-wheel disc brake system was reportedly overhauled and received a replacement master cylinder, rotors, and pads.
The reupholstered interior features low-back bucket seats trimmed in dark blue leather supplied by John Skinner Ltd. of Gloucester, England. A sliding rear-view mirror is equipped, and the Becker Europa TR push-button radio is linked to speakers mounted on each side of the center stack. The electrical system was overhauled with a replacement wiring harness and Lucas relays, per the selling dealer.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges are housed in the center stack above a row of toggle switches for vehicle functions. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 300 of which are said to have been added since the refurbishment.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was overhauled as part of the refurbishment with Mahle 9.0:1-compression pistons as well as a replacement water pump assembly, exhaust manifolds, main rod bearings, and timing chains, valves, and guides. An electric fuel pump is said to have been installed, and the triple SU side-draft carburetors have reportedly been rebuilt.
Cylinder head and block stampings match the engine number listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission that is said to have received replacement bearings, seals, gaskets, and synchro rings. A Bell stainless-steel dual exhaust system was also installed during the refurbishment, and the fuel tank was replaced at that time.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
A number of car show awards from the early 2000s will accompany the sale.
