This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the seller in 2018, and a subsequent refurbishment was completed in 2023. The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt and is linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional work included refinishing the exterior, reupholstering the interior, refurbishing the braking, steering, and suspension systems, and replacing the convertible top, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels and tires, exhaust system, and wooden steering wheel. The car also has enclosed headlights, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, an aftermarket radio, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records, spare and removed parts, and a New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example was factory-finished in Opalescent Golden Sand and was refinished under current ownership. Additional equipment includes a replacement black soft top, a soft top boot, a louvered clamshell hood, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and they were mounted along with 185/70 Vredestein tires under current ownership. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The suspension, steering, and brakes were rebuilt under current ownership.
The cabin was reupholstered and features bucket seats trimmed in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an aftermarket radio, and a heater. The clock is functional but does not keep time. The weatherstripping was replaced and replacement tan panels are fitted inside the boot.
A replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. The removed steering wheel is included in the sale.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The block was replaced under previous ownership and the engine was rebuilt in 2020. A spin-on oil filter adapter, a high-torque starter, and an aftermarket cooling fan have been added, and the radiator is said to have been re-cored while the heater box was replaced. The removed starter is included in the sale.
The cylinder head stamp reads 7E104442-9 and matches the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A 3.07:1 gear set was installed in September 2018. The exhaust system was replaced during the refurbishment.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates. The chassis plate affixed in the engine bay is a reproduction and lists an incorrect car number. The New Jersey title is noted as a Replacement and lists the vehicle identification number as 1E13593, which corresponds with a chassis stamping.
