1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5

1967 Jaguar XKE 4.2 Roadster
For auction is a 1967 Jaguar Series 1.5. Red with Black interior. This car has been with the current owner for the past five years and has been used as a driver. The car has 17,564 original documented miles since new.
The car has never been restored and is believed to be 100% original with the exception of the paint and seats. The car is free of rust with the exception of some small bubbling near the front and rear wheelwells.
The Jaguar Factory never officially produced a Series 1.5 model. This is the common name given to the very last of the E-Types that were produced in late 1966 as 1967 models. As such, this car sports the open headlamps on the bonnet.
Some of the features of the car include the triple SU carburetors with the original brass inspection tags, wire wheels with eared knockoffs and leather interior. This model has the mechanical refinements of the full synchro gearbox and the powerful 4.2 motor. The car sounds amazing and runs like a rocket.
In addition, this car has been certified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. The numbers found on this certificate are: 1E13572 (VIN), 7E10368-9 (Engine), 4E5273 (Body) and EJ10535 (Gearbox).
The classic Jaguar E-Type needs no introduction. Wickedly fast, sleek, seductively beautiful in design and engineering: it is widely acknowledged as the standard by which other sports cars are judged. Included is the original owner's manual, tool roll and jack stand. All service records are available.
The car is available to be seen or appraised by a mechanic in the metro Atlanta area.

This car crossed the block at the Amelia Island Concours RM Classic Car Auction on Saturday, March 13, 2004. Not a bad car... though I did not get to look at it for more than a few minutes. Bidding opened at $30,000 and ran up to $60,000 (!) but it did not sell, so the seller obviously thought it worth more. Seems crazy to me, as $60 is more than enough for a s1.5 OTS!
The auction catalog states:
Current owner for past 5 years. (if so, then why the boost from $42 to over $60?)
17,564 Original Miles. (? how did it lose 18 miles)

1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
ESTIMATE: $70,000 - $90,000
CHASSIS NO: 1E13572
Less Than 18,000 Miles From New
As many enthusiasts know the Jaguar factory never officially produced a Series 1.5 model. However, this is the common name given to the very last of the E-Types that were produced in late 1966 as 1967 models. As such, these examples sport the open headlamps on the bonnet such as this particular example.
Offered here is a 1967 Jaguar Series 1.5 example finished in brilliant red with a black leather interior. This car has been in the ownership of its most recent owner for the past five years and has been used as an exceptional driver and shows a meager 17,564 original and documented miles from new.
The vendor reports the car has never been restored and is believed to be 100% original with the exception of the paint and seats. The car is free of rust with the exception of some small bubbling near the front and rear wheel wells. The vendor reports that included in the sale of the Jaguar is the original owner’s manual, tool roll and jack stand and all previous service records are available for inspection.
Further additional features of this low mileage example include its triple SU carburetors with the original brass inspection tags, wire wheels with eared knockoffs and a sumptuous leather interior. In addition, this car has been certified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and confirms the numbers shown on the car. Notably, this model has the mechanical refinements of the full synchro gearbox and the powerful 4.2 motor – as expected the car sounds amazing and runs like a rocket.

Something wrong here - this car is over three months too early to have open headlamps. The bonnet must have been replaced early in its life, either due to accident damage or to update its looks?
Extraordinary that reputable auction companies have marketed it as a Series 1.5 (which it isn't) without a single comment!
