Car to be at auction 11/09

Auction description:
Lot 461
Registration Number: UK Registered
Chassis Number: 1E1234
This 4.2 Litre E-Type Roadster, manufactured in 1965, was exported to the USA and returned to the UK in 2001, where it was treated to a total ground up restoration. The brief was to rebuild the car cosmetically to be as close as possible to its 1965 original specification and at the same time make sympathetic improvements to both its drivability and reliability.
The restoration started with stripping the car of all paint and converting it back to right hand drive. Any panels that showed corrosion were replaced and this was followed by a full bare metal re-spray, in Jaguar Carmen Red. Subsequently, all chrome was re-plated and the wiring harness replaced. The interior was then fully re-trimmed and a mohair hood fitted. Mechanically, the car has benefited from a complete engine rebuild and IRS rebuilt steering and suspension parts all overhauled and replaced where necessary.
The car has been sympathetically upgraded to improve the reliability and usability associated with modern day driving, this includes the addition of a 123 electronic distributor, electric SU fuel pump, Kenlowe fan, Cooper Craft front callipers, stainless steel 6Jx15 MWS wire wheels and Pirelli P4000 tyres.
Complete with V5 registration document, Jaguar Heritage certificate and current MoT, the vendor describes this 4.2 Roadster as a truly stunning example.
