Built in April of 1965, registered in Coventry before being delivered new to the French Embassy in Malaysia, this E-Types adventure had only just begun.
Offered in turn-key condition, this leading edge Series 1 Jaguar E-Type Roadster is a credit to its last custodians and an absolute asset to the next.
Built in April of 1965 and dispatched that same month, this Henlys of London delivered E-Type Series 1 was an immediate personal export for the French Ambassador to Malaysia, complete with its Coventry registration DWK-481.
From its diplomatic service, ownership took up residency in Singapore and New Zealand over a period 29 years with documented ownership throughout that time, before landing and being professionally restored in Australia.
With accompanying Heritage certificate detailing its original colours of Opalescent Gunmetal Grey over Red trim, numbers matching engine and transmission, the restoration was exacting and well documented with extensive history file.
Behind the wheel, from every conceivable detail the cockpit’s switch gear, carpets, double stitched red leather bucket seats and flawless gauges aren’t just correct, they’ve been masterfully refurbished and fitted.
To drive, this car is excitingly quick with a near instant throttle response, steering is well balanced and fast, the weight and feel of the pedals is as though they’ve been cut from one piece, gear changes have that signature click-click feel and the overall atmosphere is totally engaging, never ever boring.
An original matching numbers example of collector grade, this combination of its handsome original colours, masterful restoration, original accompaniments, winning history and unrivalled provenance make this already rare and desirable classic something extra special.
What is a highly collectable and exquisitely presented E-Type makes this car perfectly ready for winding weekend roads. Completing just test mileage since restoration, this roadster would make the perfect addition to any garage or established collection and is not to be missed.
