Ebay item 9/14/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $30,000, no reserve, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $45,000.
Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Roadster 4.2 Litre
25,964 original miles – Triple Carb 4.2 Litre – Brown with rare cinnamon leather interior
I purchased this car from the elderly original owner. He had purchased the car new in 1966 when he was in his mid-fifties. I acquired this car in 1985 and have owned it ever since. It has been garaged from new and I have only added 3000 miles in twenty years. It has been licensed and driven every year to car shows or on pleasure drives.
The car was repainted once by the original owner because he preferred the new color. The paint is very good and there is no rust. The car is completely original except for a CDI ignition that was installed in period and can be easily removed. I upgraded the radiator to a higher capacity aluminum unit for increased reliability and replaced the original exhaust tips with Monza quad tips for a sexier appearance and sound.
There are five red band tires in very good condition. The top is also in very good condition and has a sparkling clear window. The interior is in good condition with original cinnamon leather that I believe was only available during the 1966 model year. The boot (trunk) is in excellent condition and there is a mostly complete tool kit, owner’s manual, original jack and wirewheel spare.
While this car has been shown over the years at various local car shows, it is not a “show car”. It is ready for “top-down” sports car thrills and will give real pleasure to the person that appreciates driving an instantly recognizable milestone automobile..
Vehicle Condition
The paint is in excellent condition since this car has always been stored indoors and under cover, except on the louvers over the exhaust manifold. Over the years, exhaust heat has caused bubbles in this area. The chrome is in excellent condition. There are no known mechanical defects. There are a few minor stone chips on the front of the bonnet (hood).

Car returns to ebay 4/3/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-S1-Numbers-matching-Series-I-example-is-a- ...
Opening bid $70,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Bridgeport, Connecticut. 27k miles.
Sellers description:
This numbers-matching Series I example is a very original find and is in wonderful condition. There are just 1200 miles on the rebuilt engine, with all work completed by our master engine builder Frank Buonanno. Additionally, we’ve rebuilt the brake system, including re-sleeved calipers. The original interior is intact and very clean, complete with factory hardtop. This color-scheme of Golden Sand paint is very rare, giving this car a true standout quality.
The value of E-types has increased steadily, and with good reason. They’re wonderful performers with immortal styling. If you’re looking for a sports car that offers presence and comfort, the E-type is it. If you’d like one that’s properly sorted, this is your car. Black Horse Garage, Inc.

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Freshly-restored-new-interior-and-paint-Be ...
Current bid $40,100 reserve not met, 6 bids 6 days left in auction. Same seller. It appears the car has undergone a complete color change from bronze to dark gray and interior from cinnamon to red. Note the engine compartment appears to be black rather than bronze or gray and still sporting the Griffin radiator.
Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 OTS
Black Horse Garage is proud to present to you this excellent example of one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. This 1966 Jaguar E-type comes to us from a private collection who originally acquired it as a "barn find" example. This documented, 27,000 mile E-Type was remarkably original and solid before receiving a sensitive respray at the hands of Black Horse Garage's restoration experts. At the same time as the body restoration, the interior was restored by our own Pebble Beach award-winning trimmer - himself an expert in E-Types. The engine has recently been rebuilt by the legendary Frank Buonanno and the brakes have received a thorough servicing with newly rebuilt calipers all around. Finished in beautiful dark metallic gray with a contrasting deep red interior, this E-Type is simply gorgeous and should be seen to be fully appreciated. This car has had the benefit of careful and well documented ownership through the years and we are extremely proud to be presenting it for sale.
This numbers matching example includes important features such as original tools, a period correct spare tire, canvas top boot, period original owner's books, and even a rare and desirable removable factory hard top which is currently undergoing restoration to match the rest of the car. Black Horse Garage's experts have also detailed the engine and undercarriage to bring the entire machine up to a high level. The undercarriage shows in clean and tidy original condition and all under body surfaces have been cleaned and thoroughly treated with rustproofing.

Why on earth has someone changed from a rare, but best looking and fitting colour on an E-Type (opalescent bronze) to a mere common and standard colour of opalesent silver grey?!?!?!
I would love to have an Series 1 E-Type Coupe in opalescent bronze..... maybe someday....
