This Jaguar XKE Series I 4.2L LHD OTS car does not have a 1E prefix on the factory build plate. Its car number is 10272.
Two or three other owners of the earliest 4.2L XKE's have reported that their cars lack the 1E prefix. It seems that the 1st.
200 to 300 cars produced did not have the 1E prefix but only a five number car number on the build plate.

This early 1964 Type I 4.2L does--- NOT--- have a 1E prefix on the factory build plate, but only the five numbers 10272 for the Car #
The first 200-300 off the production line did NOT have the 1E prefix !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note about the missing 1E, JDHT has confirmed a few of the early 4.2L cars did not have the 1E prefix.
