Sellers description:
We are proud to offer this very rare and extremely nice example of a 1965 Jaguar Series-1 E-type Convertible. This XKE is in exceptionally nice condition inside and out, has always been very well cared for and drives like a new car - except with more attitude!! The car comes with the Jaguar Heritage Certificate and great documentation. The body is in exceptional condition and the glass, carpet, leather, headliner, seats, etc. all are extremely nice. This car is much nicer than a driver and is priced very reasonably for what it is. It is finished in Carmen red with a Black top over a Black leather interior. It is powered by a 4.2L 6-cyl. engine and it has an upgraded JT5-BW 5-spd. manual transmission and the odometer shows 69,640 miles.
Additional Details:
(VIN: 10171), Carmen Red with a Black convertible top, Black leather and carpet, JT5-BW 5-spd. transmission, 69,640 indicated miles. This Jaguar was purchased by a local physician 12/02/2002 from the 2nd owner in Huntersville, NC. It was in need of new floorpans and structural repair, which it received in 3-phases from March 2003 to May 2005 (in 2- phases), plus routine maintenance and service since. We have the Jaguar Heritage Certificate and report, which shows that this Jaguar is correctly presented today as it was assembled in 1965, with the exception of the updated transmission.

Phase I (June 2003) this Jaguar was completely disassembled and received new full floorpans, front lower bulkhead and frame rails with all new insulation material and sill foam. Every part of this car was taken apart & cleaned, repaired or replaced. It has received: complete brake system service incl. rebuilt front and rear calipers and new pads / rotors, wheel bearings, brake lines, etc. All hoses, seals, gaskets and bushings were inspected and replaced as required;
engine and trans mounts were replaced, the steering column was overhauled with a new u-joint assembly & bushings; new wiring harnesses and ignition kit with new spark plugs. Suspension service incl. all new shocks and springs, new bushings and sleeves. The car was completely repainted in the correct factory color. All wiring behind the dash was gone through and cleaned up and a new ignition switch and alternator were installed. At this time a new stereo system was installed incl. Blaupunkt head unit and speakers, MTX amps and a full custom install. A Moto-Lita wood steering wheel was also installed at this time.
Phase II (May 2005) included a new convertible top and the installation of a JT5-BW 5-spd. transmission, an alloy flywheel with new clutch and a gear reduction starter motor. The engine compartment was dressed up with polished bright work valve covers, carb tops, ft breather cover, intake manifold and thermostat housing. The car also received a full service at this time incl. plugs, cap and rotor, ignition wires and loom, valve adjustment and all fluids and filters. An updated alloy radiator was installed and oil pan gaskets were replaced along with re-jetting the carbs. All of the aforementioned work was performed by Jaguars Unlimited of Highland Park, IL.
Phase III (June 2005 - present) was performed locally by independent repair facility Foreign Performance and included routine maintenance and general repairs as needed, incl. new ball joints, fuel pump, etc. The body is now completely rust free and the car is a joy to drive. Receipts for the aforementioned work total over $66,590.00.
Sports Car Market currently shows Series 1 values ranging from $167,200.00 to $324,500.00 and rising.
This Jaguar XKE has been lovingly cared for by it's most recent physician owner and it received a complete driver quality restoration over the course of 2 years. It has always been garaged under his ownership and was driven on a regular basis. From the paperwork and photos the car does not appear to have ever been in any type of accident.
The body and engine and options are all original and correct to this XKE. The transmission was upgraded so that
the car was more enjoyable to drive. This Jaguar was repainted during the restoration in the original exterior color, and shows the expected amount of normal wear from street usage. The paint is excellent and has a beautiful deep shine. The glass is original and very nice with only light wiper marks on what appear to be the original windshield.
The interior is exceptionally nice and the carpeting and interior trim is all excellent, the convertible top & headliner are as-new. The chrome is original and was not refinished with the bodywork and paint. This XKE starts easily, even cold, and drives well. While it is not in show condition, it would make a perfect driver or local show and shine entry, or a great basis for a complete and total restoration.
Included with this vehicle:
Good service / maintenance and ownership history
Photo documentation of body repair and restoration
Black boot cover
Jaguar Heritage documents
